deep dive species tap into a cinematic and ancestral energy with new opus, Penultimate

Our obsession with deep dive species seems to grow with every listen. We recently featured the band as they took us on an emotive and cinematic trip with immersive and magnetic new composition, Adventus, and previously shared their dimensional single, One Hand Clap and album, Aquaphilia! When we heard that the creators were back with Penultimate, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience!

Establishing the mood with an elegant, glistening guitar soundscape with a meditative frequency, evolving into a trippy and cerebral energy, Penultimate opens with a mood akin to a DMT trip, and needless to say, we are completely in awe.

The opus expands with a cinematic strings arrangement and nuanced percussion to take us on a cosmic and detail-oriented exodus. What we love about deep dive species is their authentic connection to an ancestral higher power. The depth (no pun intended) imbued in their artistry is transcendental, emotive and ethereal. Penultimate could fit perfectly in an upcoming Avatar film, and the engaging nature of the piece, including the somewhat abrupt conclusion, leaves us yearning for more!

Speaking on the release of Penultimate, deep dive species confess, “The track is filled with all-understanding kindness, as if a result of meditation or a successful trip. But the video plays with music’s emotions and adds a different perspective.”

The talented creators continue, “Penultimate is most cinematic and epic of four singles so far. It can be easily imagined in a feature film or in a documentary, blog or even ad. At the same time, it’s not a soundtrack music at all.”

We learn that the track was composed and produced by Vadim Militsin and Sergey Popovich, mastered by Bill Sellar at Super Audio Mastering, and released by OMNINORM. We always love and appreciate the intentional manner in which deep dive species create, and we have added Penultimate to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our brand new TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream their wider discography, and anticipate the upcoming video for the song, as well as the remainder of the album!
