We previously featured Megapenny Music and Delphine Savatte as they shared their cinematic, anthemic and orchestral opus, Dance with Giants, so when we found out that the creators were back with another collaboration, titled Spaces Between, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Spaces Between opens with a cosmic riser, expanding into a glistening and dimensional synthscape with anthemic drums as Delphine sings, “It started with a moment, neither one of us could name, a smile that stayed a little longer and something softly changed, no thunder in the distance, no writing on the wall, just a feeling growing quietly before we knew at all…”
The opus evolves into an emotive and robust sonic experience filled with passion. It reminds us of early ABBA, and some iconic Spanish songs from the 90s like Déjala Correr by Rocío Jurado. We could also imagine this as a lip sync in the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race as it contains so much high energy!
There is something beautifully nostalgic about the way Spaces Between embraces the maximalism of Euro-pop whilst still feeling fresh. The concept is particularly interesting because the “spaces between” become almost a metaphysical territory.
The song shows us that life isn’t necessarily defined by the obvious milestones, but by the tiny, almost imperceptible moments. It is about the glance before the conversation, the silence after a goodbye, the heartbeat before a decision. There is no doubt that Spaces Between has serious sync potential for a romantic or transformational sequence. We could imagine it in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Barbie, or The Holiday. It could also work really well within a TV series such as Bridgerton, Emily in Paris, or Sex Education.

We also appreciate how this release represents another evolution in the creative relationship between Delphine Savatte and Al Young. Their catalogue has moved from the upbeat adventure of Grains of Sand to the soulful intimacy of Across the Miles, the cinematic grandeur of Dance with Giants and now to Spaces Between. This production also benefits from the engineering and mastering of Alex Gordon at Abbey Road Studios.
What makes the story behind the music even more intriguing is Al Young’s own journey. After decades away from music production, the founder of Megapenny Music, classically trained pianist and electronic music pioneer, returned to the studio in 2024, beginning this new creative chapter with Delphine. Four decades after stepping away, Spaces Between feels like proof that creativity doesn’t necessarily follow a conventional timeline.
Needless to say, we are in awe of the energy and unapologetic Euro-pop spirit of Spaces Between, and have added the track to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the exquisite, growing discography of Megapenny Music.
