Our obsession with Megapenny Music seems to grow with every listen, we featured their debut single, Grains of Sand, which served as a transcendental exploration of life’s fleeting beauty, and Across The Miles, which was a collaboration with Delphine Savatte – a cinematic ballad of enduring love, connection, and emotion. Naturally, when we heard that Megapenny Music was back with Dance with Giants, again featuring Delphine Savatte, we couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in their universe once more.
Drawing us in with a cinematic soundscape that feels like the beginning of an Avatar movie or a Jurassic Park sequel – expansive and whimsical and with grandeur, evolving with astral vocal textures from Delphine Savatte, Dance with Giants opens with poetic prowess and metaphorical prose.
We experience the lyrics, “In a world of shadows we ignite, fingers tracing stars in the velvet night, the echoes whisper secrets only giants know, we rise together where the wild winds blow…”, accompanied by a sublime, orchestral soundscape with a luscious string arrangement and high emotional quotient that invites us to appreciate the reality that we co-exist in.
The production and concept are both anthemic, the idea of “dancing with giants” is incredible – high above the ground, feeling the earth below, feeling the fire burn, in the arm of giants, it’s our turn. There is no doubt that Dance with Giants would be perfect for a range of sync deals, perhaps a film, but also perhaps a massive TV advert for a sports channel.

We learn that Dance with Giants is the latest chapter from Al Young, who founded Megapenny Music in the late 1970s. For some background, Al Young was immersed in the era of analogue synths and multitrack tape with a background in classical piano and a deep passion for electronic music.
He moved from successfully managing bands to designing and building his own synthesizers. Some of his custom built synths were used by early 1980s bands and support acts. He also experimented with tape loops and multitracking to refine his sound.
After a 40 year hiatus from music production, Al returned in 2024 with the aim of writing and producing. This brings us to Dance with Giants – a cinematic and genre defying feat, built on sweeping orchestral strings, thunderous percussion, and a vast, goosebump inducing, scale.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Dance with Giants to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Megapenny Music, and anticipate future releases!
