We previously featured Megapenny Music’s debut single, Grains of Sand, which was a transcendental exploration of life’s fleeting beauty, so when we heard that the talented artist was back with Across The Miles, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Drawing us in with an intimate and emotive piano performance, Across The Miles opens with a sublime vocal performance from Delphine Savatte as she sings, “Ocean waves they call my name, travel far through winds of change, family’s love it stays the same, holding on the love remains…”
Delphine’s vocal timbre is hypnotic and we deeply connect with the high emotional quotient that manifests. The strings that emerge tap into our heart’s centre and really allow us to connect with the intentional nature of the song. In essence, Across The Miles is about the enduring power of love and connection. It celebrates the warmth of family and friends, showing us how these bonds persist despite distance or change.
The song emphasizes joy in shared experiences, for example, traveling to new places and creating joint memories. The instrumental interludes are sublime and cinematic. There is no doubt that the song would be perfect for an epic romantic movie showing how happiness is found in laughter, storytelling, and simple moments of togetherness.

The lyrics also convey a message of resilience and hope, which feels really zeitgeist considering the current state of reality. Challenges and distance (“shed the rain,” “across the miles”) don’t diminish the love and support, but keep us grounded and inspired.
Speaking on the release, Megapenny Music, also known as Al Young, confesses, “It’s an emotional reminder that no matter where life takes us or how far we roam, the connections that truly matter remain forever strong. I’m a storyteller at heart.”
Al Young is a classically trained pianist who rose in the late ’70s, moving from band management to designing custom synthesizers that influenced early ’80s sounds. After a 40-year break, he reemerged in 2024, collaborating with Delphine Savatte on Grains of Sand, which marked his return to music production.
Naturally, we have added Across The Miles to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Grains of Sand, and anticipate future releases from Megapenny Music!
