In July, we featured The New Citizen Kane as he embraced freedom and self-expression with his vibrant single, MetalLIC, so when we heard that Kane was back with interTWINE, we couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in his universe once again and share our experience.
interTWINE opens with a dimensional microtonal synthscape with a psychedelic edge as Kane sings, “So elusive, your air of non-conformity, keeps me guessing what rules do you play by, and me, well I’ve always been an open book, charismatic I’m not scared to share my vibe…”
The opus expands with a high octane ethereal rap verse as Kane shows his artistic range. As for the message of the song, The New Citizen Kane tells us, “I think interTWINE is one of my most confident sounds to date, capturing the electricity of possibility. Built around playful chemistry, curiosity, and magnetic attraction, the song explores the moment two lives begin orbiting one another. Equal parts flirtation and invitation, it asks whether instinct can sometimes recognise a connection before logic has time to catch up, and invites listeners to disconnect from the digital world and return to searching for connection in the real world.”
We are hypnotized by the digital music video which sees the artist take on an almost queer James Bond persona. We could imagine the track being featured in a TV show like The Day of the Jackal, or Succession.

There is also a clever tension between the song’s futuristic production and its very human message. We love how Kane plays with the language of technology and the digital world, yet ultimately asks us to put it all down. In a culture dominated by notifications, scrolling and endless streams of information, interTWINE serves as an invitation to reconnect in the real world. It’s sexy authenticity at its finest.
interTWINE also fits naturally into the next phase of Kane’s Psychedelika Pt.2 project. Following the awakening explored in earlier material, this chapter moves towards desire, physicality and instinct. His self-described “rhythm & synth” identity feels particularly appropriate here. The music encourages movement while still giving us plenty to think about.
Needless to say, we are once again impressed by The New Citizen Kane‘s ability to make electronic music feel both futuristic and deeply human, and have added interTWINE to our New Music Spotlight playlist and TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream The New Citizen Kane‘s exquisite, growing discography.
