Establishing the mood with an astral frequency and intricate piano performance, Elias Dream opens Goodbye, My Love with a high emotional quotient and the lyrics, “I make the coffee and the morning sky turns grey, you look for your keys and throw that smile my way, your jacket smells like freedom, gasoline and summer air and I still think after all these years, we’re still beyond compare…”
The opus expands with an organ synth and textured drums as Elias Dream shares a higher octane, rapped delivery with deep-rooted authenticity in the message of the song. Essentially, Goodbye, My Love unfurls as a tale of losing someone you love without warning and being forced to confront how quickly an ordinary day can become the last one that you ever share together.
The song follows a man whose partner suddenly dies in a tragic accident. It takes us from the warmth of everyday intimacy into shock, fear and the devastating realization that he has to say goodbye. We are not simply told that this man is grieving, but we are placed inside the memories that he is holding onto. As Elias Dream himself explains, “I wanted the listener to feel like they’re right there with him – from hope and fear to the moment he realizes he has to say goodbye.”

There is no doubt that Goodbye, My Love has a deeply cinematic allure. Elias Dream also describes his songs as short movies that you can see with your eyes closed, and we could imagine it accompanying a film or show with a similar narrative like One Day, The Fault in Our Stars, The Time Traveler’s Wife, The Notebook, or P.S. I Love You.
On a sonic niveau, Elias Dream creates a compelling contrast between emotional rap, melodic vocals and cinematic instrumentation. We particularly love the presence of the warm Hammond B3 with Leslie, which gives the production an organic character.
Needless to say, we are deeply moved by Goodbye, My Love and have added the track to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Elias Dream, including You Stayed, and A Voice In The Dark.
