In essence, the song is about a relationship that starts very suddenly and intensely between two co-workers. The pair are immediately attracted to each other. They become close very quickly, and share exciting moments that make the connection feel special and full of possibility.
The concepts of the flood and fire describe how overwhelming and powerful their feelings become, whilst the chrysanthemum and April showers represent a more beautiful but equally complicated energy. Cash L3wis shares how he feels that his muse could have been the one, but how the relationship moves too fast and eventually becomes difficult.
Eventually, he accepts that it is over, and stops chasing the relationship. He wishes the object of his affection happiness, and finds peace in letting go.
