We last featured CroonerEd as he celebrated love, gratitude, and personal growth on his self-realized single, A Better Man, so when we heard that the uplifting artist was back with I Love This View, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
I Love This View opens with an intricate piano melody, expanding into a cinematic jazz soundscape as Ed sings, “My world was dull, nothing new, then you came into my view, now everywhere I look makes me think of you, so let me just stay here and enjoy the view…”
By now, you will know that CroonerEd‘s voice is sublime. He has a knack for creating timeless songs in this modern era, when we, as a society, need that authentic nostalgia the most. Melodically, I Love This View reminds us of Hopelessly Devoted To You by Olivia Newton-John, and we could imagine a flurry of TikTok remixes of the two songs.
There is no doubt that Ed’s I Love This View would be perfect for a range of sync placements, notably a TV show like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Emily in Paris, or Ted Lasso. We could also picture the song adding warm vibes to a romantic film such as The Holiday or About Time. Its smooth jazz arrangement and heartfelt lyricism create an atmosphere of nostalgia, wonder and genuine affection. The instrumental solos are also nothing short of masterful and the reference to God giving us these moments really resonates with us on a universal and philosophical level.
What makes the song even more endearing is the real-life story behind its creation. During a trip through France and Italy, Ed found himself captivated not by the beautiful coastlines or architecture, but by his wife standing beside him. As Eddie explains, “The postcard was stunning. But the view that stopped me wasn’t the coastline. It was her. That’s the song.
