Our obsession with For You Brother seems to grow with every listen. We last featured the project for delivering an assertive anthem for female empowerment with Message, so when we heard that they were back with Waiting on The Train, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Waiting on The Train opens with a meditative astral frequency, expanding into a dimensional guitar soundscape with cosmic organ notions and affirmative vocal ad-libs. For You Brother share the lyrics, “Sun’s coming up on a brand new day, dust on my boots, but I’m on my way, been through the valleys, walked through the rain, still got a smile while I’m waiting for the train…”

The poetic prowess is immaculate and the cinematic allure is tangible. The vocalizations are super catchy – perfect to sing along to in a stadium, and the guitar interludes and emotional climax of the track are sublime.
There is no doubt that Waiting on The Train would be perfect for a range of sync placements, especially in a film or TV show with inspiring themes such as The Pursuit of Happyness, Rocky, This Is Us or Friday Night Lights.

Faith is, of course, central to the narrative. The song openly embraces the Christian belief in divine timing, and the universal belief of relinquishing trust to the cosmos. Musically, the collaboration between John Davis and Jean Carllos is compelling. Davis brings his extensive experience as a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer, whilst Carllos contributes his distinctive keyboard and organ work, adding a spiritual dimension to the opus.
