We last featured For You Brother when they invited us to trust the universe with the poignant and anthemic single, Father Help Us, so when we heard that the project was back with Message, we couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in their universe once again.
Message opens with a dimensional guitar soundscape, expanding with textured drums to unveil a captivating performance from vocalist Azoghn, as she sings, “My blood is boiling, I need a man to hold me, someone with passion, and that’s not what I’m feeling from you…”
We immediately connect with the assertive energy that Azoghn brings to life with her “message”, as she adds, “Don’t need controlling, just need your love and holding, so satisfy me… don’t think you’re ready for a women like me… I need somebody to do what you won’t do…I have a message for you, I think I’m too hot to hold on to…”
Speaking on the release, For You Brother tell us that Message is about “a woman demanding [to be treated] right. Today’s world is more [individualist]. So value yourself and your love more than settling for [anything] less.”

They add, “We feel like so, so, many women struggle with this kinda treatment. So hopefully this song will encourage them to be strong and set boundaries. You deserve better. Be good to yourself!”
Message feels zeitgeist and important. We also love the cinematic allure which would be perfect for a sync placement in a TV series like Vladimir on Netflix or a movie like Babygirl starring Nicole Kidman. The guitar performances are epic, as always, and Jon Dash cites SRV and Jimi Hendrix as influences for his artistry.
We continue to be in awe of what For You Brother create, and have added Message to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the band’s exquisite, growing discography, and anticipate future releases from For You Brother.
