We previously featured Violet Love for inviting us to ascend with the cerebral and dynamic new EP, Destined to Fail, so when we heard that she was back with Airport Road, we were curious to say the least and couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in her reality and share our experience.
Airport Road opens with subtle crowd noise, an acoustic guitar soundscape, and the lyrics, “Summertime and breeze is singing, forecasting better days ahead, got me silent cos the word is green and nothing here is getting in the way…”. We immediately connect with the vibrant and optimistic message of the song.
The track expands with an almost theatrical edge as Violet Love delivers a warm and cinematic vocal performance. The tempo shifts subtly, allowing the production to open up into a more dimensional indie-pop mood. We love the way the composition grows without losing the intimacy of the opening.
In essence, Airport Road is about finding where we belong and finally feeling like we don’t need to look back. More specifically, it is inspired by Violet Love proposing to her fiancĂ© and becoming part of his family. The narrative is super real and literal which is refreshing. It is about love, commitment and discovering a sense of homeliness.

At a time when we, as a society, need optimism the most, Violet Love captures the feeling of entering a new chapter and genuinely believing that better days are ahead. The lyricism is situational and relatable. The influence of Aries and Quadeca can be felt in the way the track moves between intimate songwriting and more expansive production. Fans of Clairo, beabadoobee and The Japanese House could also connect with the indie-pop sensibilities too.
We could imagine Airport Road landing a sync placement in a TV show like The Summer I Turned Pretty, or a film like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before or Lady Bird. The DIY approach makes the release even more impressive. Violet Love wrote and recorded the entire track alone from her home studio, and maintained complete creative control throughout. We appreciate that independence because Airport Road feels personal without becoming inaccessible. It is clearly rooted in Violet’s own experience, but the emotion is universal.
Naturally, we love what Violet Love is creating and have added Airport Road to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst continuing to stream the wider discography of Violet Love, including the entirety of Destined to Fail.
