Drawing us in with a celestial and dimensional soundscape, shimmering with psychedelic nuance, Violet Love opens their Destined to Fail EP with a track called Serpent and the poignant lyric, “I’m grieving the loss of myself…”
The opus expands with a deep rooted authenticity – a cry for help amidst the artist’s pain, suffering and mental anguish. We appreciate the high emotional quotient that transmutes and the glitched production, fusing organic instrumentation with a cyber electronica aesthetic. It feels dynamic, tapping into notions of ancient futurism.
The lyric, “now you’ve become my serpent in the garden of hell…” is particularly captivating, and leads us swiftly to the second track, Apple, where Violet Love continues to reference the Genesis story but with their own unique spin.
The vocals are particularly captivating here, stripped back and giving emo rock with just an electric guitar riff. The solo is a trip, crowd-noise surrounds us as the star showcases their instrumental mastery, exploding into a thrashing and arena ready rockstar energy. Needless to say, we are in awe.

Finally, we experience Artist, which feels more self-realized, conscious and cathartic as Violet Love sings, “I’m tired of hurting, I know what I said… Love is the answer, but it gets in the way of all that I\ve wanted and been planning for days…”.
The five minute finale boasts another fierce instrumental segue, leading us into a sonic switch up with an alternative rock vibe and then a stunning and ethereal cosmic vibe which brings us full circle, but also feels like we are elevating to a new dimension, in line with the overarching concept of the record. The final moments are a countdown to opening our eyes, which invites us into a new era where Violet Love has manifested the freedom they deserve.
Every single track has a cinematic allure – perfect for a range of sync deals – a teen angst TV show on Netflix like Elite, or Euphoria on HBO. Overall, the Destined to Fail EP is intelligently crafted with intentional depth – honouring a unique sound and timeless narrative with a progressive vision.
We have added Artist to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream Violet Love‘s wider discography including Who Says, and Pov Life Sucks but Ur in Love.
