Our obsession with The Mess:Age seems to grow with every listen. We last featured the conscious and enlightening single, SACRIFICE, so when we heard that the project was back with LIGHT OF BLUE “sugar ocean girl”, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in their universe once again.
LIGHT OF BLUE “sugar ocean girl” opens with the sound of rolling waves and a sublime, glistening melody with panning nuances, expanding into a bold and high-octane guitar energy with captivating vocalizations. We experience Ziggy‘s captivating vocals as he shares poetic prowess with vibrant, situational descriptions and a deeper message.
In essence, the song unfolds as a light-hearted, euphoric and escapist summer-infused pop-rock track featuring uplifting coastal imagery with themes of personal awakening and hope. It feels like a call to embrace positivity and human connection, as well as universal connection.
The concept draws on spiritual symbolism and metaphor to showcase the ocean and light as motifs for renewal and resilience. It’s genius in its simplicity and deeper complexity. The hooks resonate like a mantra whilst the allegorical writing is message driven, like all of Ziggy and The Mess:Age‘s work.
Ziggy poignantly tells us, “The track is taken from the second album entitled AGE OF MESS. It’s a summer ocean beach style commercial track with an enlightening twist for people to come together to stop the global warming total lie. It also reflects upon “GODS OZONE” frequency which is THE LIGHT OF BLUE. Therefore no matter what they try to do, we must all stay positive within the human mind and keep the frequency to manifest the Christ from within, i.e the good vibes and Light Of Blue.”
The video is not out yet, but set for release later this month, and we will absolutely be adding the visual to this post. Sonically and stylistically, LIGHT OF BLUE “sugar ocean girl” shares elements with artists such as Mike + The Mechanics, Tears for Fears, Simple Minds, Don Henley, and Sting, but there is no doubt that it still holds The Mess:Age‘s signature outlook with a more mainstream appeal this time.
We could see the song securing sync placements in TV shows like My Life with the Walter Boys, Blue Planet II, Race Across the World, and Our Planet, or a movie like the Oscar-winning, One Battle After Another.
