Drawing us in with an intimate piano performance, expanding with a cerebral synth and textured percussion, The Mess:Age open SACRIFICE with a brooding vocal and the words, “Holy holy, you are children of the dawn, how sacred is your heart…”
The opus feels like a sonic fusion of Bowie, Madonna and ANOHNI! The consciously enlightened energy transmutes immediately. The repeated phrases evoke an almost gospel-esque feel, whilst the purring guitars bring to life an organic Earth energy – in line with the powerful lyric, “Mother Gaia… you are the womb immortal light, our saviour from the dark…”
The vocal performances are inspiring and euphoric – stadium-ready as always with The Mess:Age! An out of this world guitar solo, accompanies the expansive sound and 80s adjacent power ballad transmission!
We learn that SACRIFICE is taken from the band’s second album, entitled AGE OF MESS. It is written about “the immortal indestructible Christian faith of the unbreakable cross and the new rising fully awakened generation that will bring forth enlightenment and truth to the whole of humanity.”
The Mess:Age‘s connected prose is always appreciated here at KIMU, their philosophies on Christ Consciousness in music is something that we want to experience more of. The band’s offering is unique, exciting and empowering.
As a reminder, the band hails from London, England, and is led by vocalist Glen Brandon “Ziggy”, who is accompanied by Paul Gold on bass (known for his work with X Two Tribes) and Jaime Page on guitar (recognized for his contributions to Trilogy and Dark Universe).
Speaking on his creative process, Ziggy confesses, “I write alone and always try to channel and grasp inspiration out of the ether and directly from God source, I like to stay unique regarding my approach to music, as The Mess:Age has a certain chemistry, I like to try my best to gather up my thoughts from the spiritual realms of reality.”
Naturally, we have added SACRIFICE to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the band’s exquisite growing discography, including HIS RETURN, Free At Last, and MR W.H.O!
