Establishing the mood with the sound of smashing glass and a dimensional 8-bit, yet futuristic, synthscape with ad-libs of the artist’s name, Jwock opens ROMAN REIGNS with ferocity, subversion and dimensionality.
The track expands with cerebral notions as Jwock takes us on an interpersonal journey with reference to his romantic muse, their lived experience, a bit of drama, and his lifestyle. Jwock‘s high-octane delivery is captivating, and we appreciate the presence of UK artist, Drausii and US artist, sojsn on the track – each adding their own unique energy and perspective.
The hook, “call me ROMAN REIGNS…” is poignant, and for some context, Roman Reigns is an iconic WWE superstar. His championship success, commanding confidence, athleticism, and charismatic presence is the core inspiration for this track, as there is no doubt that he is a role model for many young men.
We could imagine the track being played at a rave in London or New York, and could also imagine Roman Reigns coming out to it before a fight, or featuring in a future music video. The contemporary allure makes it a great sync deal match for a TV show like Euphoria on HBO, or Elite on Netflix, perhaps during a club scene that has gone wrong. The down pitched spoken word details are an ingenious touch.

On his influences and artistry, Jwock confesses, “A lot of the UK underground rap scene influenced this track. Artists like Fimiguerrero and Fakemink played a big part in the sound that I went for.” The rising star adds, “The rise of UK underground made me feel like it’s a good time to start releasing music that feels more natural and authentic to me, rather than try and cater towards an industry friendly sound.”
We deeply appreciate the uniqueness and psychedelic energy that Jwock is delivering, and have added ROMAN REIGNS to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream Jwock‘s mixtape, CRY BABY, and anticipate future releases from the talented force.
