We last featured 23 Fields for sharing a high emotional quotient with the reassuring and cinematic single, You’re Alright, so when we heard that the band was back with I’ll See You Soon, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Establishing the mood with textured drums, intricate piano chords and captivating fiddle riffs, 23 Fields open I’ll See You Soon with dimensionality, consciousness, and situational, introspective prose.
We immediately connect with the unfolding narrative, which feels like a movie in itself. We appreciate the deep-rooted authenticity that transmutes. We could imagine I’ll See You Soon being featured in a film like The Farewell, Nebraska, and A Man Called Otto, which all feel like a good fit for the concept of the song.
In essence, I’ll See You Soon is about the guilt and sadness that can come from not spending enough time with aging parents. The message reflects on the common habit of putting off visits or calls whilst assuming there will always be more time in the future.

It’s really wholesome and we are grateful to the band for sharing this depth with us. We really rate how it explores the gap between good intentions and reality, and the emotional weight of promises that are repeatedly delayed.
The track has a festival-ready sound too, and we can visualise a crowd holding up lighters or phone flashes, waving them in the air, whilst 23 Fields deliver the heartfelt track with a raspy brooding timbre. The band encourages us to “pick up the phone, make the journey, and cherish the moments that remain.”
We appreciate the wisdom, and have added I’ll See You Soon to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of 23 Fields, including the entirety of The Vacant Stars Of Wandering Souls.
