We recently featured CMD.EXE for exploring artificial intelligence, memory, and human connection on Signal Burst, and briefly mentioned the project’s accompanying single, Madame E.V.A, which marked the inception of the CMD.EXE high-concept album, Red Giant Protocol. Naturally, we wanted to share more insight on Madam E.V.A as it forms an integral part of the album’s narrative.
Madam E.V.A opens with an immersive vocal and the lyrics, “She steps out of the static, with a halo made of chrome, a silhouette of silver that beckons me back home…”. Accompanied by a meditative frequency and ethereal guitar, the prose invites us to imagine a futuristic deity dancing in the digital storm.
The track builds with a high emotional quotient into a cohesive tapestry of sound with an epic and subversive beat drop into a digital-rock sound. As for the concept, Madam E.V.A serves as a retro-futuristic sci-fi journey that explores the meaning of humanity through the eyes of EVA01.
She is a “perfect” artificial being sent to experience a simulation of human history as the Sun approaches its transformation into a Red Giant. Across thousands of years in a fraction of a second, Madam E.V.A witnesses humanity’s greatest achievements and failures. The middle eight is a stripped-back acoustic moment with anthemic drums, cerebral ad-libs from Madam E.V.A herself, and a cosmic rebuild into a truly epic finale. We eventually learn that she is “not a bad girl, baby!”
Madam E.V.A learns that the human experience is defined not by perfection, but by emotion, connection and impermanence. As her understanding deepens, her mission evolves from studying humanity to inheriting its legacy. The story asks whether memories, emotions, and the desire to create can transcend the extinction of their creators. It’s nothing short of genius. Again, this would be perfect for a movie like Lucy, but it is also clear that CMD.EXE is creating an audio-visual universe of its own design. the music video sees Madam E.V.A live a thousand lives from Japan to Studio 54 and beyond – it’s absolutely hypnotic!
Naturally, we have added the song to our playlists, whilst we continue to stream Signal Burst, and await the release of Red Giant Protocol in its entirety!
