Establishing the mood with a cerebral, static synth, expanding with a subversive bassline and pitched ad-libs, Lil’ Mike opens Rollin’ with dimensionality and an 8-bit energy. The opus evolves with repeated mantras that resonate with a high vibrational frequency.
There is no doubt that the track holds a cinematic allure, perfect for an episode of a show like Euphoria on HBO, or Beauty in Black on Netflix. There is a futuristic, hyperpop-meets-trap adjacency to what manifests and we appreciate the dynamism of the piece.
The message of Rollin’ is inspiring and empowering. It is an anthem about persevering through challenges, believing in ourselves, learning from our setbacks and relentlessly pursuing our goals no matter what obstacles stand in our way.
Speaking on the release, Lil’ Mike says, “This track not only embodies the whole spirit of the EP in terms of lyrics and music, but also shows most of my philosophies.” He adds with conscious depth, “It’s a good thing to sing something you believe in, so this is why Rollin’ is about keeping pushing no matter what comes across your path.”
Fans of Slayyyter, Travis Scott and Yeat would be able to connect with what Lil’ Mike is creating. He also cites Michael Jackson as his first influence. The intricacy of the production is simply awe-inspiring, keeping us enthralled throughout. It is clear that Lil’ Mike creates with intention, and this really sets him apart.

On future projects, the rising artist comments, “That project helped me to grow up as an artist and discover new things in music. I was supposed to rest after the release, but I wanted more afterwards, so we can expect many good things coming soon.”
We learn that Rollin’ and Lil’ Mike‘s wider EP, HotDamn, were created in collaboration with Ingué and Lord Lucci of the Hanaya Mafia collective. They played key roles in shaping the track’s flow, toplines, and overall direction during the artist’s debut EP project recorded at Ingué’s studio.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added Rollin’ to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream the entirety of Lil’ Mike‘s EP, HotDamn.
