Under Delusion bring to life a high concept and subversive reality with new single, Burning Under Water

We absolutely love Under Delusion, and have previously featured their enigmatic and hypnotizing single, Runaway, as well as their moving ode to a lost friend, Over The Rainbow, and the introspective and cinematic, Dive. When we heard that the band were back with Burning Under Water, we were intrigued by the concept, and couldn’t wait to share our experience.

The opus opens with an enigmatic melody before expanding into a dimensional, alternative rock soundscape filled with metaphorical prose as the band express their emotions inviting us to save them and not give up.

Under Delusion have historically demonstrated nothing short of instrumental mastery with their work, and Burning Under Water is no exception. Filled with nuanced riffs, and magnetic guitar performances, the band take us on an immersive journey (literally) with the composition.

We learn that Burning Under Water is designed to “transport listeners to an alternate realm” and “leave a lasting impression”, which is absolutely does with the execution of its unique concept.

The Russian band confesses that they were inspired by “a near-death experience at a depth of 30 meters in the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean”. Burning Under Water was created to “encapsulate the anguish of enduring challenging times”, which is a relatable sentiment for all of us right now.

Under Delusion tell us that the poignant lyrics were penned in mere minutes, but were then “lost in a sea of notes” for two years before resurfacing with a stroke of fortune, compelling the band to share their raw emotions with us.

Burning Under Water is the fourth single from Under Delusion‘s highly anticipated sophomore album, and we have added the track to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream their expansive wider discography including Fairy, and Runaway.
