The last time that we featured nyxotype was for Kaa, which served as a hypnotic, sonic journey of growth, wisdom, and spiritual transformation inspired by The Jungle Book, so when we heard that the star was back with TektrA, we were curious to say the least and couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in her universe once more.
TektrA opens with cosmic flutes and ethereal ad-libs with textured percussion. The opus expands with dimensionality and cerebral, atmospheric notions to take us on a trippy and celestial journey. We appreciate the dimensionality of the track, and the panning details. The production manifests as a cohesive tapestry of sound and switches up mid-way through with toms and a melodic synth as nyxotype shares echoing, gated vocals.
There is an undeniable cinematic allure to the piece, and it would be perfect as the score of a TV show like Beauty in Black or a more cerebral show like Nine Perfect Strangers. On the existential theme of the song, she tells us, “TektrA playfully contemplates the myth of origin.” It truly does feel like a DMT trip.

With reference to the psychedelic male ad-libs, nyxotype confesses, “The track contains a sample from a loved one that I recorded while he was talking in his sleep. He consented to me using the sample when awake, of course. That was where the inspiration took off.”
nyxotype cites Sevdaliza and Grimes as sonic inspirations, which truly is aligned as what she is creating fits into both of these artists’ worlds perfectly. We could definitely imagine nyxotype opening for either Sev or Grimes when they next visit Germany.
On her growth as a producer, nyxotype adds, “Technically I have learnt so much about production and mastering within the last year and I am more than delighted to merge this advancing skill with my creative capacities.”
Needless to say, we continue to be in awe of what nyxotype is creating, and have added TektrA to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream her wider discography, including To The Moon, Lava, and Sister.
