Establishing the mood with a cerebral soundscape with dubstep adjacency, CRACKAJACK opens CLANKAS with dimensionality, subversion and sonic intricacy. The opus expands with airy risers, drum riffs, and industrial synths that showcase the composer’s dynamism.
We immediately appreciate the trippy and psychedelic nature of the journey, the pitched vocal ad libs manifests substance, whilst the panning and glitched synths showcase CRACKAJACK‘s production mastery and prowess.
The finale teases a meditative moment before the track reaches its conclusion, which naturally leaves us yearning for more and reaching for the repeat button. There is a cinematic allure to the track – it would be the perfect accompaniment for a movie or TV shows like Limitless – tapping into that cerebral empowerment energy. We in fact learn that the composition takes inspiration from the viral memes making fun of robots in public spaces. CRACKAJACK says, “An example would be the social media personality, Rizz Bot.”

CRACKAJACK, who hails from Pittsburgh, also cites WHZLY, MAD DUBZ, Subtronics, and Samplifire as sonic influences, but it is clear that the artist is manifesting a sound of his own. His DIY approach comes to life in his parents’ basement, which definitely highlights his dedication to pushing musical boundaries.
He jokes that CRACKAJACK will be “playing live from his parents’ basement this fall, his first time headlining an event of that caliber”, and goes on to comedically add that “future generations will look on this song as the origin of mechanical bullying.” This said, he is actually quite philosophical, and this all serves as a poignant commentary on the future of tech and humanity.
Naturally, we will be adding CLANKAS to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists as soon as it lands on Spotify. In the meantime, we continue to stream CRACKAJACK‘s wider discography, including HYDROQUACKER on Soundcloud!
