Establishing the mood with a bright yet distorted saw wave synth melody, reminiscent of Benny Benassi‘s iconic hit, Satisfaction, NIERI opens Boys At The Gym with a mood that immediately evokes the title of the track!
The opus expands with atmospheric vocals as NIERI shares a tale through the lyrics, “I’ve been having trouble with my body, the doctor told me to go training on Beverly Blvd…”. The star packs his bags, puts on Britney Spears and grabs his membership card…
The hook, “Can you spot me, get behind me…” is genius – and the imagery that NIERI conjures up is protein-rich and sensual! The Britney reference is not lost as fans of the iconic pop star will also be able to connect with the song. It’s not just gym-playlist-friendly, but also club-friendly
There is also a cinematic allure, and we could imagine the track manifesting a sync deal for a sexy boy on boy scene in Netflix’s Elite or Olympo! Speaking on the more philosophical nature of the release, the Hollywood-based star confesses, “Do I want them, or do I want to be them? That’s the kind of crisis I have mid-squat. That’s basically what the song is about. It’s where body image, desire, and fantasy all blur together. And honestly, anyone who’s ever had a gym crush probably gets it.”

We absolutely love the track and the pristine levels of production and consistent output that NIERI delivers with his artistry! We also learn that the narrative behind both Boys At The Gym and the broader Architecture project is “music for breaking free, living authentically, and refusing to fit the mould.” This empowering and tangible authenticity is what we need as a collective, now more than ever, especially for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Naturally, we have added Boys At The Gym to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream NIERI’s growing discography, including People Pleaser, and Architecture!
