Setting the tone with a bold vocal and the introspective, metaphorical lyrics, “Sometimes I feel like I’m dying, and I’ve felt this way before, these things I’ve come to rely on, they fill the void and so much more…”, Fine Life open The Void with a dimensional soundscape and a relatable message.
The opus expands with a sentiment that we can all connect with. In essence, the track feels highly zeitgeist and taps into notions of mental health, societal expectations, our shared lived experience and so much more.
We appreciate the pristine sonic production that emerges – refined pop-rock perfection at its best. Though the sound design has an optimistic vibe, the actual subject matter is pretty raw and real. Speaking on the release, the duo, consisting of Elise Levin and Kritty KeĀsoglides, confess, “This song gets right to the point – no strong metaphors or beating around the bush. It very bluntly talks about depression, anxiety and vices.”

We learn that the pair’s discography is designed to showcase their genre expansive sound and influences, but that the common denominator is solid and authentic songwriting. This certainly comes through with The Void and the cathartic message that transmutes.
There is a conscious thread to the prose as well, references to crying (which is a great way to connect with the universe) and the illusory nature of reality are not lost on us! It is no surprise that Fine Life have gained buzz and radio support from media outlets including Cage Riot, 90.1 KTUH and CCAN Radio in Toronto.
We love what Fine Life are creating, and have added The Void to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the duo’s wider discography, including Moments, and Spiraling Down.
