Setting the tone with a boundless, psychedelic synth, Rye Catchers opens his latest single, UFO with intrigue and dimensionality. We experience astral and dynamic vocals from Nikki Simmons, as she sings deterministically, “I wanna believe…”
Nikki is a multi-genre session vocalist and voice actor, whose work has appeared on video games, adverts, and numerous recording projects. She has a stratospheric vocal range that spans 3.5 octaves from B2 to G6!
Mid-way the song trips into a luxurious, arpeggiated sonic landscape as the tone and energy of the vocal delivery transforms, now performed by Hannah Richardson, into a warmer, atmospheric energy whilst maintaining the cohesive tapestry that Rye Catchers has created.
We learn that seasoned music veteran David McClintick Roberts is Rye Catchers, and that he wrote and produced the piece, which also features a virtual bass-line by composer and musician Ricardo Giarratana, as well as the guest vocals.
The opus is highly danceable, and we appreciate the switch up, which almost serves as an ethereal moment of realization within the composition, before we return to the chaotic and subversive finale of the track.
We have added UFO to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we explore the wider discography of Rye Catchers including Anything, Little Things and History.
