Establishing the mood with a dimensional bassline and a cerebral, astral synth, Bloodlin3 and Twista open their collaborative single, No Mercy with intrigue, atmospheric vocal production and an out of this world flow!
The lyricism is assertive, and conscious, something that we have come to expect from Bloodlin3, having featured the trio’s previous release with Krizz Kaliko, Until I Fall. Twista is a massive star who is known for his chopper style of rapping and for once holding the title of fastest English-speaking rapper. We appreciate the dynamic nature of the opus and the value that each member of Bloodlin3 brings with their own unique energies. This, fused with Twista‘s iconic delivery, results in an incredible audio experience that leaves us yearning for more.
The moody nature of the soundscape, combined with spelling out the title of the track for the hook, and the 90s adjacent high synth that reminds us of early 2Pac has us completely in awe! A ticking clock and explosion when referencing a time bomb and down pitched “don’t play with me” with a nod to a ouija board, are the types of sound design nuances that we absolutely adore.
As a reminder, Bloodlin3 is comprised of Mallachi, Stephen King, and Reinman Quiji, who are brothers from Paducah, Kentucky and El Paso, Texas. They cite Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Tech N9Ne, and Eminem as sonic influences, which we deeply connect with, and feel come to life with No Mercy, but there is no doubt that what Bloodlin3 are creating is not only unique to their own design, but holds a sense of nostalgia fuelled by their influences, coupled with a futurism in the exquisite design of their immersive hip-hop soundscape.
Speaking on the release, the trio tells us, “This is our introductory song coming back from our debut album, Mercy, this time we are coming harder and having No Mercy on the music industry. We are still trying to change the game and reset the cookie cutter sound we hear today.”
We love what Bloodlin3 are creating, and have added No Mercy to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our brand new TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of the trio including the entirety of their album Mercy, and anticipate future releases!
