TIME TRAVEL opens with a cerebral synth and introspective spoken word with themes of waking up alone and loneliness, before expanding with an atmospheric vocal from Finnegan as he sings, “They just wanna see what happens when we tear the world apart, it could be just you and me, losing everything we had…”
The opus evolves with textured drums and the hook of the song as Finnegan ponders the concept of TIME TRAVEL. Speaking on the message of the release, the creators confess, “TIME TRAVEL is about a troubled girl and a desire to travel back in time to absolve her from trauma [and] demons, but in doing so her demons entered my own life.”
We appreciate the alternate dimension that Love Ghost and Mexico’s Yung Dupe manifest with the release. The narrative is captivating, and we connect deeply with the emotive nature of the track. The lyricism is laced with poetic prowess, and features super vivid moments reference self-harm (TW!), which really brings to life the authenticity that Love Ghost share with their overarching message.
Yung Dupe‘s Spanish language presence on the track is fierce, and creates a dramatic energy with the accompanying soundscape, which we learn was produced by Shantra, who has worked previously with Santa Fe Klan, Piso 21 and many others.
It is no surprise that Love Ghost has been receiving critical acclaim from notable publications such as Rolling Stone, Clash, American Songwriter, FLAUNT, Alternative Press, Lyrical Lemonade, and Earmilk. The band has been actively expanding their reach, recently embarking on a European tour that included performances at the Rockpalast Festival, which was broadcast nationwide in Germany.
Their music has also resonated with audiences in Mexico City, where they have graced venues like Auditorio BB, Indie Foro Rocks, and Amazon’s Gamergy Festival, reaching viewers across Latin America.
Collaborating with artists worldwide, including Rico Nasty, Adan Cruz, Teeam Revolver, Geassassin, Mabiland, and Tankurt Manas, Love Ghost are currently teaming up with a diverse array of Latin artists such as Wiplash, Dan Garcia, Ritorukai, Go Golden Junk, ND Kobi, FLVCKKA, Phyzh Eye, Josue, Blnko, Helian Evans, and more.
