Love Ghost team up with Camidoh and DJ Switch Ghana on emotive and thought-provoking new single, Dopeman

As soon as we heard that one of our favourite bands, Love Ghost, fronted by the insanely talented Finnegan Bell, was back with another collaborative single, this time with BET International Entertainer of the Year nominee, Ghanaian Afrobeat artist Camidoh and Global Prodigy Award Winner, DJ Switch Ghana, we were super intrigued and couldn’t wait to listen and share our thoughts.

Dopeman opens a melodic guitar intro, before Finnegan sings, “I am the Dopeman, this is how we cope man, some might overdose and my spirit can’t be broken…”

We are immediately captivated by the vulnerability that Finnegan shares with his prose. As we know cannabis culture has its plus sides and also potential downfalls, and we appreciate the creators for sharing such an honest light on the issue and their relationship with the plant.

The song itself is a fusion of the Afrobeat sensibilities of Camidoh’s chart-topping Sugarcane, the dark alternative rock feel from Love Ghost, and charged by DJ Switch’s freestyles. Needless to say, we are captivated.

We love the music video with cinematography by Keith Coleman, which sees the artist delivering an angelic energy, albeit in different countries at the time of filming – the visual remains super cohesive. The choreography and choral vocals are outstanding and we learn that the song even invites us to create with the artists in a brand new TikTok dance challenge!

Love Ghost has had the incredible opportunity to perform at the renowned Rockpalast festival, which is broadcasted on German television, reaching audiences throughout Germany. They have also graced the stages of prestigious venues in Mexico City, including Auditorio BB, Indie Foro Rocks, and Amazon’s Gamergy Festival, which was broadcasted across all of Latin America.

Camidoh, a talented Ghanaian artist, has made waves in the music industry with his captivating blend of Afropop, R&B, and Afrobeats. His single Sugarcane propelled him to prominence, reaching an impressive position at number 5 on Shazam’s top 200 most searched Afropop songs.

DJ Switch Ghana, also known as Erica, made history in June 2018 by becoming the youngest person to win Ghana’s annual DJ award. Her exceptional talent caught the attention of Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s entertainment company, who featured her on their social media platforms during Black History Month in 2019.

We have added the collaborative single, Dopeman, to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our brand new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discographies of all three artists, and anticipate future releases from the stars!
