Dirty Mitts return with profound and inspiring ode to equality, Women

We previously featured Dirty Mitts as they tapped into the power of manifestation for their debut single, My Show, so when we heard that the band was back with Women, we were curious, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.

Kicking off with textured percussion and a dimensional guitar soundscape with fierce electric riffs, and a demonstration of instrumental mastery, Women opens with the magnetic lyrics, “Give me a call on Saturday night, I’m gonna turn up girl, you make my dreams come alive tonight…”

The opus takes us on a relatable journey at first, before progressing into an empowerment anthem dedicated to women and the pursuit of equality in music. Speaking on the message of the song, lead singer, Tommy Balaam says, “The line ‘give me women on equal pay’ is not just a catchy hook but a nod to contemporary themes that are becoming more prominent in music.”

We appreciate the intentional nature of the track, and Dirty Mitts‘ phenomenal brand of storytelling, and ability to conjure a retro soundscape to bring to life their poignant message.

Dirty Mitts consists of Tommy on vocals, Matt performing bass, whilst Mo slays on guitar, and Mateusz shares his skill on drums. The bandmates hail from the UK, Poland, and Egypt, and are based in London, brought together by their mutual affection for rock’n’roll!

We love what Dirty Mitts are creating, and have added Women to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we immerse ourselves in the breathtaking visual for the song which features the band in a cinematic setting, showcasing a variety of incredible performers!
