Grace & Moji share hypnotizing visual for their sophomore single, and anthem of self acceptance, Monster

Our fascination with Grace & Moji seems to grow with every listen, and we recently featured their self-realized and intentional sophomore single, Monster, so when the duo posted the accompanying music video, we couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves fully in their conscious universe.

Taking place in an industrial setting with a 360 degree track shot and the star’s taking centre stage with an acoustic guitar and a mic, the visual for Monster opens with two different lighting set ups – one natural and one with a mystical yellow tint and haze.

Grace begins to sing, sharing a charismatic presence as Moji smiles, performs guitar and engages with the camera in a playful manner. We suddenly see a glitched figure appear with a mask, no doubt representative of the monster in the concept of the song. He wears all black and performs enigmatic, experimental choreography before the scene evolves to show all three protagonists engaging together in a friendly way with a party table as the centrepiece. There is no drama, just acceptance, in line with the message of the song.

We learn that Monster was filmed in an old Los Angeles warehouse, and delves into the song’s concept of inner demons and how they play out in our relationships.

Speaking on the visual, Grace Hong says, “The music video is based on the concept of us exploring our inner demons in a playful way. In order to grow, we have to work with both the shadow and more illuminated sides of our personalities.”

Martin ‘Mojo’ Wave adds, “The video was a blast to shoot! Everyone involved worked really hard and we’re super grateful!”

The choreography is created by Just Jet (Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars), and the visual, directed by the stars along with Sam Friedman, is created with the intention to depict “the internal struggle that resides within every individual as they navigate a relationship, inviting viewers to confront their own battles and embrace vulnerability for genuine connection.”

We love the message that Grace & Moji share, and the emotional depth that is conveyed with the song, and visual. Monster has been added once again to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Our Love, and anticipate their upcoming EP!
