Dave Mohan takes us on a cosmic trip with spatially expansive new composition, Lightning on Galatea

As fans of Dave Mohan‘s artistry, having previously featured the Re-Vox Version of Time and Tides, Arioso In Red, and Shadows in the Fire, we couldn’t wait to experience his latest release, Lightning On Galatea.

Setting the tone with rolling drums and rippling keys with a subversive, and dimensional bassline, expanding with fierce wind instrumentation to immerse us further, Dave opens Lightning On Galatea with nothing short of instrumental mastery.

The opus evolves with drama and a high octane energy to take us on an evocative journey laced with nuance and memorable moments. We adore the keys performance, and the fusion of the horns and sax within the soundscape.

In line with the aesthetic of the artwork and Spotify canvas, we feel transported to a cosmic dimension that continues to hold a grounded sense of timelessness with the organic nature of the instrumentation. Needless to say, we are in awe.

We appreciate the piano solo mid-way though the piece, and the astral nature of the horns which create drama before a meditative respite with keys and strings before an out-of-this world, refined finale, inspiring us to reach for the repeat button.

Dave cites Yes, Focus, Sky, and Steely Dan as artists that might create similar soundscapes, but there is no doubt that the composer is creating universe of his own.

We have added Lightning On Galatea to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we enjoy the accompanying visual, and continue to stream Dave Mohan’s wider discography.
