Rye Catchers releases Madonna and 1984-inspired single, Creeping On Me

As huge fans of Rye Catchers, having previously featured the dimensional and emotive, Ordinary, the immersive single, UFO, and the powerful, Sometimes, once we heard that the visionary producer had released Creeping On Me on the aligned date of 7/7, we simply couldn’t wait to listen and feed back!

Drawing us in with a minimalist synth melody, expanding with dimensional depth, Creeping On Me opens with an 80s adjacent energy and metaphorical prose. Needless to say, we are in awe. Textured percussion and drums immerse us whilst Rye Catchers demonstrates instrumental mastery and precision with his sound design.

We learn that the opus features a pedal point bass line by the legendary Tim Lefebvre (David Bowie, Black Crowes, KNOWER) and that the intention was to create “a Madonna-like vibe in the verses”, which absolutely comes through!

Vocals for the track are provided by Nikki Simmons, who is a multi-genre session singer and voice actor whose work has appeared on video games, adverts, and numerous recording projects. She even has a stratospheric vocal range that spans 3.5 octaves from B2 to G6. Iconic!

Lyrically, the composition is also designed to echo 1984’s Somebody’s Watching Me by Rockwell, tapping into that subversive technological reality mindset.

Creeping on Me also marks the first release of a full and upcoming LP from the talented artist, also known as David McClintick Roberts. We have added the composition to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Rye Catchers, and await the upcoming LP!
