Grace & Moji explore their connection with emotive debut single, Our Love

Establishing the mood with an elegant piano performance with luscious choral harmonies, Grace & Moji open Our Love with intrigue and dimensionality before sharing the lyrics, “Forever seems to short, a time to spend with you, you came right in an swept aside everything I knew, and now I know the truth, that love is worth the wait…”, accompanied by a timeless acoustic guitar.

We immediately connect with the poetic prowess and authenticity of the opus as the indie-pop duo take us on a thought-provoking and charming journey with their prose.

We learn that Our Love is an anthem that is designed to encapsulate the powerful bond Grace Hong and Martin Wave share, “exploring their journey of personal growth, healing, and the layers of their relationship.”

Fans of The Flaming Lips, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, The National, Kasey Musgraves, and Harry Styles will be able to connect with Grace & Moji‘s evocative debut, although it is clear that the pair are creating a universe of their own.

The overarching romantic sentiment of the piece is tangible, and speaking on the release, Martin Wave confesses, “This project is, by far, the most personal and honest one I’ve ever worked on. It’s allowed me to widen my perspective on the creative process and what it means to fully be yourself while letting the world watch.”

We learn that Grace & Moji met just three months before the start of the pandemic and decided to get married on the first day of the lockdown, securing one of the last marriage certificates in the city of Los Angeles.

Grace Hong tells us, “We got married really quickly and had to get to know each other under unusual circumstances, and it brought up a lot that I needed to face within myself. I feel so fortunate that we were able to cultivate a space where we could explore the more unconscious dynamics within our relationship. I hope our process inspires couples to feel safe communicating more honestly in their relationships.”

We love the intentional nature of the release, and have added Our Love to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from the duo!
