Munk Duane releases elegant and intricate new single, Just A Word

We recently featured Munk Duane for his introspective and profound track, Myths, so when we heard that on the aligned date of 11/11, he had released the brand new, Just A Word, we couldn’t wait to experience it!

Establishing the mood with a bright and panning melodic soundscape featuring high synth bells and an elegant guitar, Munk Duane opens Just A Word with his charismatic vocals and the lyrics, “I go with pedestrian assumptions, hoping that it’s all alight, I flow with inferior deductions, just to get me through the night….

The composition expands into a groovy R&B energy, as Munk Duane takes us on a timeless journey though his spirit and mind. We appreciate the details in the vocal production, the echos are timely and add a sense of dimensionality to the opus.

We deeply appreciate the poetic nuance in Munk Duane‘s prose, and it is no surprise that in 2021, he became busy composing for film and television after being invited to contribute to the Extreme Music library, the production music arm of Sony Music Publishing.

The artist humbly confesses, “Seeing my name next to Hollywood composing legends on the Extreme platform is completely surreal.”

For reference, Extreme Music is powered by A-List talent including Quincy Jones, Hans Zimmer, Snoop Dogg, deadmau5, Ice-T, Sir George Martin, Atticus Ross, Michael Giacchino, Timbaland, Junkie XL, and more.

Just A Word is a timeless opus with classic emotive moments. and we can see the nods in Munk Duane‘s vocals and sound design to his idols including Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Prince, and Stevie Wonder, although there is no doubt that what Munk Duane is creating is unique to his own vision and identity.

We have added the talented artist’s new single, Just A Word, to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Munk Duane‘s wider discography including Dangerous and Sweet Tooth.
