Cruelty-Free Beauty Spotlight

With 2021 incoming, we want to focus on health and raising our collective vibration, what we put on our skin, in our hair and beyond is so important, so I wanted to spotlight a few brands that I have been using to ensure that we go into 2021 as radiant as possible.

Wunder Workshop – Adaptogen Oil

I love Wunder Workshop for their holistic values and specifically their Turmeric and the “Adaptogen CBD Oil“. Containing CBD and turmeric is probably the most holistically advanced product on the market.

With the Adaptogen CBD Oil, Wunder Workshop combined five of nature’s most potent ingredients to create a powerful daily wellness ritual. The ingredients include Mucuna pruriens, also known as “velvet bean” – an aphrodisiac and tension reliever, used in Ayurveda. It also contains L-Dopa, a chemical precursor to dopamine our neurotransmitter responsible for emotional wellbeing. They also included their organic Superior Ashwagandha, another highly regarded Ayurvedic plant that acts as a potent adaptogen to help balance our response to physical and emotional stress. The blend also contains Wunder Workshop’s CBD and full-spectrum, organic Turmeric extract. Plus, BioPerine black pepper extract to improve bioavailability.

I love the overall effect of the product from a CBD perspective and the combined feeling from the Ashwagandadha and Cannabidiol was evident after keeping the blend under your tongue for a few minutes. It is great that every batch is independently tested to ensure high potency and consistency. The taste is representative of the specific plants included within the blend, so depending on your preferred feeling when consuming an oil, that is a consideration!

The product does not contain THC and is protected in Miron Violet glass and each bottle packed in a handcrafted and hand-dyed turmeric pouch made by Sri Lankan mamas at AMMA.

Harry’s Micro-bead Free Organic Face Wash

Harry’s is a vegan and organic, LGBTQ+ friendly grooming brand that started out focusing on shaving but has expanded to products including daily face wash, which I personally love. Instead of microbeads as an exfoliating agent, it has much more environmentally friendly and natural volcanic minerals plus aloe and coconut water and eucalyptus and peppermint which leaves me feeling really fresh!

Polaar Skincare

On my ongoing ethical skincare journey, I was recently introduced to French skincare brand, Polaar – a brand born of a deep fascination with the Arctic world by founder and explorer, Daniel Kurbiel.

he brand has key ingredients sourced from the Arctic which include Boreal Algae, Arctic Bays, Arctic Cotton, Glacier Water, Nunatak Flowers, Siberian Ginseng and Taiga Pine. The products that I have been testing are the new Eclat Boreal micro peeling foam with Siberian Olive, the Nuit Polaar Revitalising Mask, the Instant Eye Contour Multi Energiser, The Hand Cream, Lip Balm and Face Cream with concentrated in arctic berry extracts (arctic raspberries, arctic cranberries and blackberries). I tested them out with a French friend (because duh it’s a French brand) and we started with the micro peeling foam which can be used twice daily, left on for 30 seconds to dry skin and you can immediately feel the subtle results. I also really enjoyed the revitalising mask which had a depth the moisturiser that felt reminiscent of older brands intent on keeping you young and vibrant forever.

All of these products are obviously vegan and it’s inspiring to see a brand taking its approach to beauty and the environment so seriously. Looking forward to experiencing more from Polaar (ps the two A’s are for the Arctic and Antarctic, very cool – pun fully intended!).

Black Seed Oil

This is literally magic. Nigella sativa is a small flowering shrub with purple or white-tinged flowers that grows in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and western Asia.

While it may look unsuspecting, the shrub produces fruits that have tiny black seeds. These black seeds have been used in remedies for thousands of years.

It’s a very healing oil which has countless benefits from anticancer properties to hair growth and clearing skin. You can apply it topically and ingest it!

I love applying this and drinking it, it’s a game changer. You can read more about the benefits here.
