President Donald J. Trump has taken a significant step in U.S. drug and mental health policy by expanding federal support for psychedelic research and accelerating access to experimental treatments.

In an executive order signed in April 2026, Donald Trump directed federal agencies to speed up the development, review, and controlled use of psychedelic substances for medical purposes, particularly for serious mental health conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and addiction. The move marks one of the most substantial federal shifts in decades toward legitimizing substances that have long been classified as illegal under U.S. law.

The order focuses on compounds including psilocybin, MDMA, LSD, and ibogaine, instructing the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to prioritize review pathways for therapies that have shown early clinical promise. It also expands the use of “Right to Try” provisions, allowing certain patients with severe or treatment-resistant conditions to access investigational psychedelic treatments outside standard approval timelines.

A major component of the policy includes approximately $50 million in federal funding to support research programs, with an emphasis on veterans’ mental health. The administration has highlighted rising rates of suicide and treatment resistance among veterans as a key justification for accelerating alternative therapeutic options.

The announcement comes amid growing scientific interest in psychedelics as potential psychiatric treatments. Early clinical trials have suggested that these substances, when administered in controlled medical settings alongside therapy, may help reduce symptoms of PTSD and depression in patients who do not respond to conventional medications. However, experts continue to stress that risks remain, including psychological distress during sessions and possible long-term side effects.

The policy has generated strong reactions across political and medical communities. Supporters argue it represents a long-overdue modernization of drug policy and an opportunity to address urgent mental health challenges. Critics, however, warn that evidence is still limited and caution against rapid expansion before larger-scale safety data is available.

This latest move signals a broader shift in federal attitudes toward psychedelic medicine, positioning the United States closer to countries such as Australia and Switzerland, where certain psychedelic therapies are already permitted in tightly regulated clinical environments.

Today, 20 April, marks the official launch of Project Slingshot’s bold new campaign, End Factory Farming: Don’t Buy It, rolling out across London’s Underground network and citywide billboards. Inspired by the David and Goliath story, the campaign takes aim at what it describes as one of the most powerful, and least scrutinised, industries in the world: industrial-scale factory farming.

With more than 750 ads appearing in 206 Tube stations and over 2,000 placements inside carriages, the campaign is designed to confront millions of commuters with a message the group says has been deliberately obscured. Project Slingshot argues that factory farming hasn’t merely grown over the past half-century, it has come to dominate the global food system, with over 90% of farmed animals now raised in intensive conditions.

At the heart of the campaign is a simple premise: most people are unaware of how their food is produced, and if they did know, they might make different choices. Rather than telling the public what to eat, Project Slingshot says its mission is to “turn the lights on” by exposing practices typically hidden from view.

One of the campaign’s central focuses is the widespread use of CO₂ gas chambers to slaughter pigs in the UK. High-profile supporters including Diane Morgan, Dr Amir Khan, and Jen Brister feature in the ads, each challenging the industry’s claim that such methods are humane. Their shared conclusion – “I don’t buy it” – forms the campaign’s defining call to action.

Co-founder Naomi Hallum describes the issue as “industrial-scale gaslighting,” arguing that the public has been misled about the realities of modern farming. Fellow co-founder Matthew Glover adds that while agribusiness holds significant political and economic power, “the truth is the slingshot” capable of driving change.

Project Slingshot positions itself as a “narrative pressure engine,” drawing inspiration from historic public health campaigns that shifted social norms around tobacco and drink-driving. Its broader goal is ambitious: to make factory farming socially and politically unacceptable, and ultimately to end the practice by 2040.

Backed by a global team of creatives, investigators, and campaigners, the initiative plans to expand beyond the UK, building momentum through sustained, high-visibility “drumbeats” of information.

As the campaign goes live, its message is clear: the system persists not because it works, but because it remains unseen. Project Slingshot’s challenge to the public is equally clear – if you knew the truth, would you still buy it?

To understand why Lebanon is being bombed, you have to look beyond a single incident and instead see a pattern of long-standing tensions, regional power struggles, and the fragile balance along one of the Middle East’s most volatile borders.

At the center of the current escalation is the conflict between Israel Defense Forces and Hezbollah. Hezbollah is both a political party in Lebanon and a heavily armed militia backed by Iran. It operates along Lebanon’s southern border with Israel, where tensions have simmered for decades.

The immediate cause of bombing often comes down to cross-border exchanges. When rockets are fired from southern Lebanon into northern Israel, Israel responds with airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions. These strikes are framed as defensive measures aimed at preventing further attacks. Hezbollah, in turn, portrays its actions as resistance against Israel, especially in solidarity with Palestinians, particularly during flare-ups involving Hamas in Gaza.

But the situation is not just about retaliation. It is also about deterrence. Israel seeks to weaken Hezbollah’s military capabilities before they can pose a larger threat, while Hezbollah aims to show it can challenge Israel without triggering full-scale war. This creates a dangerous cycle where both sides engage just enough to send a message, but risk miscalculation at every step.

Lebanon itself is caught in the middle. Its government has limited control over Hezbollah’s military actions, yet its territory and civilians bear the consequences of Israeli airstrikes. This adds another layer of tragedy, as a country already dealing with economic collapse and political instability becomes a battlefield for forces partly beyond its control.

There is also a broader regional dimension. Iran’s support for Hezbollah ties Lebanon into a wider geopolitical contest involving Israel and its allies. Each strike and counterstrike is not only local but symbolic, reflecting deeper rivalries that stretch across the Middle East.

So Lebanon is being bombed not because of a single cause, but because it sits at the intersection of unresolved conflicts, proxy struggles, and strategic calculations. Until those underlying tensions are addressed, the cycle is likely to continue.

Women are using artificial intelligence at lower rates than men. Most recent research, by Haas School of Business / UC Berkeley, places the difference between 20 to 25 percent. The disparity is real, but it varies depending on how and where AI use is measured.

In professional environments, the gap is most visible. Surveys consistently show that women are less likely to use AI tools in the workplace, particularly in fields where these technologies are rapidly advancing. Tools such as chatbots, coding assistants, and automated analytics platforms are more commonly adopted in industries like technology, finance, and engineering, where men remain overrepresented. This imbalance in job roles plays a significant part in shaping overall usage patterns.

Outside of work, the difference becomes less pronounced. With the rise of widely accessible AI tools, especially conversational platforms, adoption rates among women have increased significantly. In some cases, usage is now approaching parity with men, suggesting that ease of access and everyday relevance are key factors in closing the gap.

Several underlying causes help explain why the divide still exists. Occupational distribution remains one of the strongest influences, as men are more likely to be in roles where AI is integrated into daily tasks. Confidence and trust also play a role. Research indicates that women tend to express greater caution about AI, including concerns about reliability, ethical implications, and long term impact on jobs.

Workplace dynamics further reinforce the trend. Women often report receiving less encouragement to experiment with emerging technologies, and in some cases, less recognition when they do. In environments where adopting AI is informal or self driven, this lack of support can slow uptake. “If we’re not in the room, then we don’t get represented, and AI learns from us…” comments Seema Victory, Head of Memberships at UNTIL.

Despite these challenges, the gap is already beginning to shrink. As AI becomes more embedded in everyday tools and workflows across a wider range of industries, adoption is spreading more evenly. The current difference is not fixed, and trends suggest it will continue to narrow as access, familiarity, and workplace support improve.

Major brands including Pepsi and Diageo have withdrawn their sponsorship from the Wireless Festival in 2026, following backlash over the booking of Kanye West as the headline act. The decision highlights the growing tension between corporate responsibility, public opinion, and the role of controversial artists in mainstream entertainment.

The withdrawal came after widespread criticism of West’s past behaviour, particularly his repeated antisemitic remarks and public praise for Adolf Hitler. He has also faced outrage for promoting Nazi-related imagery and releasing a song titled “Heil Hitler.” These actions have been condemned by political leaders, including Keir Starmer, who described the booking as “deeply concerning” and stressed that antisemitism must be confronted firmly.

For global brands like Pepsi and Diageo, association with such controversy presents a serious reputational risk. Sponsorship is not just about visibility, it is about values. Companies increasingly distance themselves from figures whose actions could alienate consumers or appear to endorse harmful ideologies. In this case, pulling out is less about music and more about maintaining public trust and ethical positioning.

This situation also feeds into the broader debate around cancel culture. Critics argue that withdrawing sponsorship is part of a culture that punishes individuals indefinitely, even after apologies. West has previously apologised, attributing his behaviour to mental health struggles, yet the backlash persists. Supporters claim this shows how difficult it is for public figures to recover once they cross certain lines.

However, others see this not as “cancel culture” but as accountability. When speech crosses into hate or extremist praise, consequences are expected, especially in high-profile platforms like major festivals. Corporations, unlike individuals, must consider their global audience and the potential harm of remaining associated with controversy.

The question of whether there are “different rules” for Black men is more complex. Some argue that Black artists face harsher scrutiny or fewer second chances compared to others. Others counter that West’s situation is not about race but about the severity and repetition of his statements, which have triggered widespread condemnation across political, cultural, and religious groups. Fans have also noted that Pepsi and Diageo refused to call out the genocide in Palestine, but are ready to cancel a Black man over the use of words.

Ultimately, the Wireless Festival controversy reflects a shifting cultural landscape where fame no longer shields individuals from consequences. Brands, audiences, and institutions are all playing a role in redefining where the line is drawn between artistic freedom and social responsibility.

Reports involving Annie Altman and her brother, Sam Altman, have circulated online, drawing attention to personal allegations that remain largely unverified and contested. The situation highlights the challenges of navigating sensitive claims involving prominent figures in the tech industry.

Annie Altman has used social media platforms in recent years to share statements describing a strained and painful family history. In these posts, she has alleged emotional harm and misconduct within her family environment, at times referencing her brother indirectly or directly. These claims have not been substantiated through legal findings or independent investigations, and they remain part of a broader set of personal disclosures rather than formally adjudicated accusations.

Sam Altman, best known as the CEO of OpenAI, has not publicly engaged in detailed responses to these specific allegations. His public profile has largely remained focused on his leadership in artificial intelligence, including the development of widely used systems such as ChatGPT. As a result, there has been no formal legal case or official inquiry tied to Annie Altman’s claims that would provide a definitive account or conclusion.

The absence of verified evidence or court proceedings makes it important to approach the topic with caution. Allegations shared via social media can raise awareness of personal experiences, but they also exist outside traditional systems of verification. Without corroboration, such claims should not be treated as established fact.

Observers note that cases like this reflect a broader cultural moment in which individuals feel more empowered to share personal grievances publicly, especially when they involve influential figures. At the same time, principles of fairness and due process remain essential, particularly when reputations and serious accusations are involved.

Ultimately, the situation remains unresolved in any formal sense. Annie Altman’s statements continue to be part of a personal narrative shared online, while Sam Altman’s public role and professional activities proceed without direct legal challenge related to these claims. For readers and the public, the key takeaway is the importance of distinguishing between allegation and verified fact, and of recognizing the limits of publicly available information in complex personal matters.

UPDATED:

Scott Mills was investigated by police over allegations of serious sexual offences involving a teenage boy under 16, relating to events said to have occurred between 1997 and 2000; he was questioned under caution in 2018, but after review the Crown Prosecution Service decided there was insufficient evidence to bring charges, and the case was closed in 2019, meaning nothing was proven in court, although the matter resurfaced publicly in 2026 when the BBC dismissed him citing personal conduct concerns.

–

In one of the most sudden high‑profile departures in recent British broadcasting, long‑serving BBC presenter Scott Mills has been sacked by the BBC, with the corporation citing issues relating to his “personal conduct.” The announcement has shocked colleagues, listeners and the UK media industry alike.

Who Is Scott Mills?

Scott Mills is a well‑known English radio DJ and television presenter. He began his career with the BBC in 1998 at BBC Radio 1, where he became a popular voice for millions of listeners over more than two decades. In 2022 he moved to BBC Radio 2, eventually taking over its flagship Breakfast Show in January 2025, after broadcaster Zoe Ball stepped down. Mills’ radio work – including The Scott Mills Show on Radio 1 and his later Radio 2 slots – made him one of the UK’s most familiar broadcasters.

The Sackings: What Happened?

On 30 March 2026, the BBC confirmed that Mills’ contract had been terminated and he was no longer employed by the corporation. The BBC’s official statement said it “does not comment on matters relating to individuals,” but that Mills was no longer under contract following allegations about his personal conduct.

Mills presented his last breakfast show on 24 March 2026, signing off as if returning the next day. But he did not appear on air again – and by the following week the BBC had removed him from its schedule.

Why Was He Fired?

The BBC has not disclosed specific details of the allegations against Mills, and the phrase “personal conduct” has been repeatedly used in official statements without further explanation. This has led to widespread speculation, but no confirmed public details have been released beyond the BBC’s wording.

Because of this, the precise nature of what Mills is alleged to have done – whether in a professional or private context – remains unknown to the public. Rumours circulating online point towards alleged and potential drug abuse (cocaine), sexual harassment, and bullying. The corporation’s decision to sack him outright, rather than suspend pending investigation, suggests that senior management judged the allegations serious enough to warrant an immediate contract termination.

Reaction and Impact

The broadcaster’s decision has elicited shock among co‑workers and the media community. Fellow Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine said he was “taken aback” by the news, adding that he had only learned of the sacking at the same time it was publicly announced.

Listeners were also surprised: Mills was a household name whose voice had become synonymous with BBC radio for nearly 30 years. His sudden exit leaves a high‑profile slot in flux while the corporation outlines its next steps. Temporary replacements have been announced for his Radio 2 breakfast show in the immediate term.

What Comes Next?

With no detailed explanation from the BBC, the story is still unfolding. Media analysts will be watching closely for any further revelations about the allegations, and whether Mills issues a public statement or legal response. For now, audiences are left with a rare example of a major broadcaster dismissing one of its star presenters without publicly shared specifics.

On Saturday 28 March 2026, central London witnessed one of the largest political demonstrations in recent British history, with organisers claiming that up to 500,000 people took part in a mass march against the rise of far-right politics. Police estimates were significantly lower, suggesting closer to 50,000 attendees, but there is broad agreement that the protest was both large and symbolically significant.

The march, organised by the Together Alliance, brought together a wide coalition of more than 100 groups, including trade unions, anti-racism organisations, climate activists, religious groups, and civil society campaigns. Participants marched from Park Lane through Whitehall to Trafalgar Square, carrying banners with messages such as “Refugees welcome” and “No to racism.”

At its core, the protest was aimed at opposing the growing influence of far-right movements and political figures in the UK, particularly the rise of Reform UK and wider anti-immigration rhetoric. Demonstrators expressed concern about increasing racism, Islamophobia, and nationalist politics, as well as broader issues such as climate justice and international conflicts.

The event drew a diverse range of attendees. Politicians such as Green Party figures and Labour MPs addressed the crowd, while high-profile cultural figures, including actors, comedians, and musicians, showed support. Performers and speakers helped create a festival-like atmosphere, reflecting what organisers described as a “multicultural” show of unity.

Key partners and supporters included trade unions, environmental movements like Extinction Rebellion, and numerous grassroots organisations. In total, hundreds of groups contributed to organising and mobilising the march, making it one of the broadest coalitions seen in recent UK protest movements.

Despite its scale, the march was not without controversy. Critics questioned the accuracy of attendance figures and raised concerns about the political messaging, arguing it was heavily aligned with left-wing causes. The presence of pro-Palestinian symbols and anti-government slogans added further tension, especially given ongoing international conflicts.

There were also security concerns. Police reported around 25 arrests, including incidents linked to separate demonstrations supporting banned groups. A small number of counter-protesters were present, highlighting the polarised political climate surrounding the event.

Ultimately, the march underscored deep divisions in British society. For supporters, it was a powerful statement of solidarity against hate and extremism. For critics, it raised questions about political bias, public order, and the increasingly charged nature of protest movements in the UK.

Running a company on your own is hard. You are a party of one. Any decisions that arise are yours alone to make, and so are the potential repercussions if you make the wrong choice. You might long for a partner to help share the burden. That being said, sometimes, running a company with someone else can be just as difficult. There is no more rapid-fire answer to a question. Now, everything is decided by committee. Even so, there are benefits. If you decide to bring someone else onto your team to co-lead your company, it is important to put a few things in order first. Here are some tips to help you get started.

Get the Business’s Finances in Order

One of the first things you need to do when bringing someone else on board to run your company with you is get the finances in order. Of course, everything is probably already set up at this point; however, you have been the one in charge and the one with complete access to everything. Now it is time to spread the wealth, so to speak.

You can quickly and easily set up a partnership business account. With this seamless account design, you are able to allow your new partner to have access just as you do, or with some limitations. It is up to you. They can make payments, look at the statements, and use the seamless banking integrations. It is a realistic way to keep your business running smoothly while you transition to a wider leadership model.

Create a Formal Partnership Agreement

When you are entering into business with someone, regardless of the scope of the endeavor, your good word and a firm handshake are no longer enough. You need something solid and reliable to cement the burgeoning partnership.

Work with a lawyer who specializes in business and contract law and who can masterfully guide you through the process of expanding your company’s C-suite. They will help you both create a legally binding formal partnership agreement. This contract should clearly outline key points, such as outlining and defining the roles and responsibilities, documenting compensation, including bonuses and benefits, and equity splits. When everything is put into writing, there is no ambiguity regarding what was agreed upon, which will make running the company easier.

Set Up an Exit Strategy

Things happen. In two succinct words, a lot is summed up. And because things do, indeed, happen, an essential component of your newfound business partnership plan must include the details of what an exit strategy will look like for each of you. That way, if anyone is looking for an off-ramp, there is a clean and clear plan in place to make it happen. An exit strategy will also save you both a lot of wasted time and energy, in addition to potential legal bills.

This paperwork should include a detailed plan for different scenarios. These might include death, a desire for one partner to leave the company, or impending retirement.

Making your business successful takes ambition. It also takes strategic planning, especially when you bring on a partner.

The Dead Internet Theory is a controversial and widely discussed idea that suggests much of the content on the internet today is generated by artificial intelligence, bots, or automated scripts rather than by human beings. According to proponents of the theory, the internet as we knew it—an organic space driven by real human interaction—has largely been replaced by an artificial digital ecosystem designed to manipulate attention, opinions, and behavior.

Origins of the Theory

The theory began circulating online around the mid-2010s, largely on forums like 4chan, Reddit, and niche discussion boards. People who support the theory point to several trends:

Exponential rise of AI-generated content – Blogs, news sites, social media posts, and even comment sections seem increasingly repetitive or formulaic.

Bots dominating engagement – Many users have noticed that viral content or trending topics often seem to come from accounts that do not engage in genuine conversation.

Decrease in original, high-quality human content – Some people feel that personal blogs, in-depth discussions, and unique perspectives have largely been replaced by generic or recycled material.

Key Claims of the Dead Internet Theory

While the theory is mostly speculative, proponents often claim that:

A large portion of social media interactions are controlled by bots or AI.

Governments and corporations may be behind the creation of automated content to control public opinion or consumer behavior.

Search engine results are increasingly influenced by algorithmic manipulation rather than true popularity or relevance.

Genuine human content is increasingly rare, making it difficult to distinguish between real and synthetic interactions online.

Evidence and Skepticism

Supporters often point to anecdotal examples such as:

Websites with repetitive or strangely structured text.

AI-generated comments that seem “off” or generic.

The sudden rise of certain trends or viral content without a clear origin.

However, skeptics argue that much of this can be explained by:

The natural commercialization of the internet.

Algorithmic amplification of popular content (which may be human-created).

The psychological tendency to notice anomalies and patterns, even when they are coincidental.

Implications if True

If the Dead Internet Theory were true, it would suggest a profound shift in the way humans experience information and communication online. Some potential consequences could include:

Difficulty in discerning authentic opinions from manufactured ones.

Reduced diversity of thought and originality.

Increased influence of AI and corporations over public discourse.

Conclusion

The Dead Internet Theory remains a fringe idea, blending concerns about AI, internet commercialization, and social manipulation. While there is no definitive proof that most of the internet is “dead” or artificial, the theory reflects a growing unease about automation, misinformation, and the changing nature of online communication. Whether taken literally or metaphorically, it raises important questions about how we interact with digital information and whose voices we actually hear online.
