Fresh reports suggest the British actor could be taking over the world’s most famous spy role, but is the next James Bond already chosen?
The internet is buzzing with one name: Callum Turner. The British actor has emerged as a serious contender to become the next James Bond, with fresh reports on 2 November claiming he has landed the coveted role in Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming 007 film. However, Amazon MGM Studios has yet to confirm the casting.
Turner, best known for Masters of the Air and the Fantastic Beasts franchise, has been linked to the role for months. Speculation intensified after reports that he was among the actors involved in the final screen-testing stage, alongside names including Jack Lowden and Josh O’Connor. According to Variety and The Guardian, the casting process has entered its decisive phase, although the precise shortlist remains unconfirmed.
The latest wave of excitement followed a report from entertainment journalist Roger Friedman of Showbiz411, who claimed Turner was the next Bond. Friedman previously broke the news of Daniel Craig’s casting, lending his latest claim additional intrigue. Nevertheless, his report has not been backed by an official announcement, leaving fans to separate industry whispers from established fact.

Turner’s reported departure as a director of Twentytwo Films, the production company he founded with his wife, global pop star Dua Lipa, has also fuelled speculation. Some observers believe the move could signal preparations for an enormous professional commitment. Others have suggested Lipa might perform the next Bond theme, although that remains entirely speculative.
The prospect of Turner working with Villeneuve is particularly compelling. The filmmaker behind Dune, Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 is known for atmospheric filmmaking, visual ambition and morally complex characters. With Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders, writing the screenplay, audiences are already imagining a darker, more psychologically layered interpretation of the iconic spy.
Turner could bring a fresh combination of physical presence, understated charisma and emotional depth to the character, following Craig’s celebrated five-film tenure.
For now, the excitement is understandable, but the distinction between rumour and confirmation remains crucial. The next Bond film is planned for a 2028 theatrical release, and the casting announcement is widely expected before the end of 2026.
Could Callum Turner be the man stepping into Bond’s tailored suits? The signs have certainly fuelled the conversation. Until the studio confirms it, however, 007’s identity remains officially a mystery.
