Establishing the mood with syncopated drums and an immersive synthscape tapping into a meditative energy, Krumbukten opens My Heart May Slumber with sublime notions and a high emotional quotient. The opus expands with poetic prowess and metaphorical depth as we are taken on an introspective and somewhat philosophical journey.
We appreciate the emergence of an acoustic guitar which feels grounding and almost spiritual. As for the narrative of the track, it explores the experience of someone who feels different from others. It touches on the idea of being guided by an inner voice, having a deep sense of purpose, and an unusual understanding of the world.
It taps into the loneliness that can come with following a personal path, whilst also finding peace and a sense of belonging in the journey of life. The lyrics suggest longing for something meaningful, even when the way forward feels solitary. The message feels zeitgeist and relatable, and there is no doubt that My Heart May Slumber holds a cinematic allure.
We could imagine the track landing a sync placement in a Luca Guadagnino or Sofia Coppola film. Equally, it would work well in a more psychedelic and spiritual TV show like Nine Perfect Strangers, or an episode of The Day of the Jackal. The vocals manifest with a classic alternative rock sensibility recalling Fleetwood Mac.

We also find it intriguing that this is the only vocal-led track on Krumbukten’s forthcoming album, Behind The Glass, scheduled for 2027. The wider project explores the meeting point between rock, jazz, classical music, and soundtrack-inspired composition, with much of the material placing emphasis on instrumental melody, improvisation, and personal expression.
We learn that My Heart May Slumber was composed, produced, and mixed by Niklas Finnäs, who also plays drums. The vocals are by Dawn Harght, with Sigurdur Rögnvaldsson on guitar, Staffan Strömsholm on keyboards, and Mats Ödahl on bass. It was recorded at Ambience Studios by Antti Uusimäki and mastered by Svante Forsbäck at Chartmakers.
Needless to say, we are in awe, and have added My Heart May Slumber to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we anticipate the releases of Krumbukten‘s album, Behind The Glass.
