Drawing us in with a cosmic guitar riff and soft padded drums like a heartbeat, Echo The Light open Send Me with a high emotional quotient and the lyrics, “I’ve got the calling, beating in my chest, and I can’t sit still, I can’t sit still, I’ve got this calling, beating in my chest, and I can’t sit still, I can’t sit still…”
The prose resonates like a mantra of purpose, which feels important and like a call to connection with the divine. There is a sense of spiritual urgency here which feels zeitgeist at this time on planet Earth. It demonstrates a desire to transform personal faith into something that can reach beyond the self.
Musically, we love the way the electric guitar gradually builds throughout the track. The arrangement ebbs and flows beautifully, allowing the softer passages to create introspective space before the guitars and drums gather momentum to climax. It all feels very intentional and cohesive, ethereal, but also stadium-filling euphoria.
Fans of Florence + The Machine will find lots to connect with here, but Echo The Light‘s message of spiritual transcendence, divine purpose, and universally conscious perspective feels unique.
The story behind Echo The Light adds another layer of meaning. The project brings together Chris on guitar and bass, his wife Jessie on vocals and keys, and his brother-in-law Derek on drums. Their musical relationship began with informal jams in Chris’s mother’s music room, and after 18 years and two previous bands.

Recorded at Bell Labs in Norman, Oklahoma, with producer Trent Bell. An interesting fact about the creative process is shared by Echo The Light, “Something cool that happened was the structure of the song changed in the studio- as it was originally going to fade out. Jessie had thought that the overflow tracks sounded cool. So Trent played around with the ending and we all finalized the intentional conclusion you now hear. The song now feels like a journey in and of itself, honouring that much more the heart of the song.”
For sync, we can imagine Send Me being featured in Nine Perfect Strangers, God Friended Me, Friday Night Lights, This Is Us, The Chosen, or Sweet Magnolias.
We love what Echo The Light have created, and have added Send Me to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from the trio.
