Drawing us in with an intricate piano performance and a spoken word monologue, IRONA opens Jack, Let’s Go for a Walk – Cello Whisper with the situational prose, “Autumn again, I watched your chimney smoke fade, I sent you a letter, I hid my words among the red leaves… did you see them?”
The opus expands with a sublime cello performance intertwined with piano as we experience the lyrics, “Through the cold between us, I carried the flame, I waited through winter, but you never changed, I gave you silence, I gave you spring, I buried the soft in everything, but mountains don’t bow and neither do I from my mountain to yours, I choose my horizon over yours…”
We love the dramatic energy as IRONA summons Jack for a walk followed by a highly intricate piano performance and cello accompaniment. There is no doubt that the track holds a cinematic allure, and what resonates with us most is the emotional honesty. This is not a conventional breakup song and we deeply connect with the idea that sometimes the person we love does not have to become a villain for us to recognise that waiting has run its course. Choosing our own horizon is not necessarily an act of rejection; sometimes, it is an act of self-respect.
IRONA tells us, “Jack is not about love disappearing. It is about accepting that love can remain even when waiting must end.” There is no doubt that fans of Lana Del Rey, Agnes Obel, AURORA, London Grammar, and Ólafur Arnalds would absolutely be able to connect with IRONA’s universe.

For its atmospheric storytelling and high emotional quotient, we can imagine Jack, Let’s Go for a Walk – Cello Whisper complementing films such as Past Lives, In the Mood for Love, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Bridges of Madison County, Atonement and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. It would also work well to land a sync placement in Normal People, One Day, This Is Us, The White Lotus and The Leftovers.
IRONA describes her work as contemporary art in sound, and this emotionally intelligent release makes that vision super tangible. We have added Jack, Let’s Go for a Walk – Cello Whisper to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to explore IRONA’s wider discography, including Don’t Go, Marble White, and EMPIRE LXII.
