Establishing the mood with a bass slide and glistening guitar soundscape, Ross Atlan opens I Can Feel Your Hands with timeless notions, textured drums and vocalizations of the title of the track. The opus evolves with the lyrics, “I can feel your hands , touch and understand, I see a little bit of my world expand, you attract my eye, my better self to interview, your amazing graces are truly divine…”
We appreciate the sentimentality and spiritual energy running through the track. There is something beautiful about the idea of physical touch becoming a gateway to emotional and spiritual expansion. I Can Feel Your Hands feels like a celebration of connection, intuition and the possibility that healing can sometimes arrive through the channels that we don’t necessarily understand.
The soul influences of Al Green, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and Teddy Pendergrass echo through the track but there is no doubt that Ross Atlan is creating a timeless universe of his own design. There is also something cinematic about the way I Can Feel Your Hands manifests. We can imagine it within the spiritual awakening context of a TV show like Nine Perfect Strangers, the consciousness-expanding journey of PLUR1BUS on Apple TV, or even in a scene of Eat Pray Love.

The story behind the song adds another dimension. We learn that Ross Atlan was inspired by an extraordinary account of physical healing during a group meditation in nature, where a non-physical light spirit was reportedly seen with its arms around someone who subsequently experienced the healing of a long-term physical ailment.
We also love the symbolism of recording the track in the Iowa countryside, surrounded by fresh air, sunshine and nature, with additional material recorded across Europe. There is a sense that the universal and global environment has become part of the creative process.
As a Minneapolis grunge scene veteran returning to his Iowa roots for this new chapter, Ross Atlan is clearly entering a different creative frequency. Needless to say, I Can Feel Your Hands feels like an invitation to remain open to connection, and are intrigued to see where this new chapter takes him. We have added the song to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist.
