We previously featured Chet Nordy and Josh Paulino for celebrating enduring love, devotion and the power of finding your true partner with the cinematic rock ballad, For You, so when we found out that the pair were back with Love Loss, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Love Loss opens with a bold and dramatic piano soundscape, expanding with a fierce and dimensional electric guitar before Josh delivers the lyrics, “Words and waves, all crash the same, your heart’s cold, but I still wait, you said later, like you meant never, I replay it, on slow with delay…”
In essence, the song is about being stuck emotionally. It taps into the idea that even though we can physically move forwards with everyday life, we replay conversations, memories, and unanswered questions. Chet and Josh remind us of the relatable struggle of the pain of losing someone and not knowing whether it was our fault, bad timing, or both. Overall, Love Loss captures the feeling of being present in the world whilst our mind remains trapped in the wreckage of a love lost.

We really connect with the high emotional quotient and the stadium-ready sound that manifests. Chet tells us more poignantly, “Love Loss is about trying to navigate through a toxic relationship. Of which, one person is trying to give it everything while the other has tunnel vision on finding the next best thing. After the one person giving it all decides to walk away the other realizes what they had and wishes they would have tried harder, but it is too late.”
Again, the track holds a super cinematic vibe and we could imagine it in a scene from a movie like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, or a crushing scene in a reality TV show like Love Is Blind or Love Island where there are obvious relationship parallels with the narrative of the song.
We absolutely love what Chet and Josh have created, and have added Love Loss to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream For You, and anticipate future releases from both Chet Nordy and Josh Paulino.
