Establishing the mood with an intricate, acoustic guitar performance featuring a subtle twang and ethereal vocalizations, ErickOscar opens Till We Turn Grey with a high emotional quotient and the observational, self-realized lyrics, “We don’t run the way we used to, we walk now slower sure and true, the mirror’s kinder than I thought it’d be, it just shows me more of you to see… I don’t need the fireworks anymore, just your hand reaching for mine on the kitchen floor…”
In essence, the song serves as commentary on authentic love and choosing to grow old with his muse. ErickOscar shows us that as life becomes slower and quieter, the couple doesn’t necessarily need excitement, crowds, or big romantic moments, just simple things like sharing coffee, holding hands, laughing, and being together.
The main concept is that real love is not about staying young or chasing excitement, but about staying besides each other through thick and thin, until the very end. It’s poetic, charming, and super emotional at its core. There is no doubt that the song would be perfect for a movie like The Notebook, Up, or perhaps About Time, Past Lives, or The Vow.

We learn that ErickOscar wrote the song as a confession of love to his wife of more than fifteen years. This isn’t an abstract idea of romance, it comes from a raw and authentic lived experience shared between two people. There is something incredibly beautiful about that honesty.
Musically, Till We Turn Grey taps into a warm country-Americana vibe which also reflects ErickOscar’s relationship with the guitar. Having played acoustic guitar with his worship band for more than 35 years and written more than 1,200 songs, there is clearly a lifetime of musical experience behind this release.
Needless to say, we are deeply moved by Till We Turn Grey, and have added the track to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist whilst we continue to stream the entirety of ErickOscar‘s album, of the same title including a version of the song with female vocals.
