Drawing us in with a liquid, panning synth flicker, expanding with subtle crackles and a cerebral, gated synth, Fede Micioni opens SYNTEZI with intricacy and dimensionality. The composition evolves with a meditative synthline evoking a spiritual essence.
We appreciate the cosmic notions that manifest, which are subjugated by a more industrial frequency tapping into rave culture motifs, but remaining zen at its core. The hypnotic repetitions are soothing and psychedelic at the same time. The minimal techno design gently drifts across the stereo field, creating a sentiment that one might feel from experiencing magic mushrooms.
The celestial ebbs and flows of the track are welcome with the beat pulling out to unveil a more ethereal expression before re-emerging and taking us on a more destination-bound journey. A rubbery bright synth emerges, undulating and teasing us with cute appearances like an elf from the DMT realm.
Tension accumulates almost imperceptibly leading us through to an emotional climax before a sublime and peaceful breakdown with a textured hi-hat and emotive synth leaves us yearning for more. We could imagine the track being played at UNFOLD in London, or at a rooftop after party in Berlin.
There is an undeniable cinematic allure that manifests, and SYNTEZI would be perfect in a TV show like Nine Perfect Strangers, which taps in to a higher spiritual quotient, exploring the use of psychedelics. The track also makes for perfect listening in the gym, or would be ideal for a rocket or vinyasa yoga class.
Fede shares, “The title SYNTEZI is a newly coined word inspired by the concept of synthesis. It refers to the process through which different sonic materials are combined, shaped and transformed until they become part of a single form. At the same time, it reflects the nature of the track itself: a fusion of rhythm and atmosphere, electronic matter and movement, technological precision and emotional perception.”
We love this philosophical approach and the fact that the release is accompanied by an original artwork by painter Camilla Micioni, whose layered, tactile piece is designed to mirror the composition’s themes of transformation and convergence.
For some context, Fede Micioni is an Italian electronica producer and sound artist whose work moves between techno, ambient, experimental electronics and immersive sound design, shaped by his studies in Electronic Music at the Conservatory of Pescara and Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome.
