The track expands with ethereal ad-libs and the situational lyrics, “Plastic cups on the dashboard, sand spilling out of my shoes, your hair all tangled in sunbeams, windows down, nothing to lose…”
In essence, the song is about nostalgically holding onto a carefree summer romance. It reminds us of a time when life felt simple, spontaneous, and completely focused on unity. In that sense, the message is truly zeitgeist and delivered at a time when we, as a society, need it the most. The manifestation of human connection feels raw, authentic and important. The concept of “summer light” becomes a symbol of that happiness, whilst the promise at the end suggests that even when summer fades and life gets colder, we can mentally return to that feeling and keep this connection alive.
We could imagine SUMMER LIGHT being featured in an episode of My Life with the Walter Boys, or a movie like People We Meet On Vacation. It would also be a great fit for driving down the coastline, or listening to at a beach club in Ibiza or Mykonos.
Speaking on how the song came about, FRANO confesses, “It was an 8 year old project file, which I said to myself to finish in the next spring for summer, but as my life got busy and I had no time for making music, this file got stuck for nearly eight years.”
The rising artist and producer continues, “Then when I decided to make music again and had this story about this specific time in my life in my mind, I got some inspiration from the ESC 2026 and got to the decision to finish this record release ready. I used FL Studio as always, but new sample packs and a bunch of new plugins, like Serum 2. Also, the mix and master would never be that good without the plugins from MasteringTheMix, which got my production process to a whole new level.”
On his inspiration, he adds, “The song was inspired by my life itself. It’s about love summer and the feeling to get back to this point.”
