At the start of the year, we featured Cosmiq for tapping into notions of romance and flirting with a touch of danger on the vibrant single, Troublemaker, so when we heard that Cosmiq was back with Forever, we couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in the artist’s universe once again and share our experience.
Forever opens with a meditative frequency and tribal, Amapiano drums with captivating vocalizations. The opus expands with the timeless lyrics that we have come to love from Cosmiq, as we are thrown into a poetic and tropical energy. In essence the song is about the rare moments of connection and celebration that feel like they could last forever.
Naturally, this could be a night out, a new romance, or on a more philosophical and existential level, simply being completely present in the moment. This final message feels zeitgeist and important, delivered at a time when we, as a species, need to hear it the most.
What makes Forever super effective is the way Cosmiq balances atmosphere with accessibility. The track has enough rhythmic dynamism especially with the glitch-pop vocals, but its central idea still remains immediately relatable and euphoric. We’d love to hear this beachside in Sicily or Goa.
We could easily imagine Forever soundtracking a summer road trip, sunset festival set or late-night club scene in a TV show like Beauty in Black. It has an undeniable uplifting energy and the smooth vocals give it plenty of crossover appeal. There are also shades of the current global dance sound in its polished production.
