We immediately connect with Haydr‘s poetic prowess and visual universe that he creates with his prose. The cosmic 8-bit details in the production add dimensionality whilst the layered harmonies add ethereal depth to the track. We love the simplicity of the concept and the expansion of the composition with tabla-style drums creating a global appeal. The middle eight features almost mantra-like chants and a sublime electric guitar performance that fans of Dire Straits would be able to vibe with.
The ad-libs are elegant and we could imagine the track being featured in a TV show like Heated Rivalry, Elite or Euphoria. As for films, the track would be perfect for a late-night romantic drama or a sensual coming-of-age movie.
Vocally, Haydr delivers with a velvet-like grit quality that feels poignantly intimate. We appreciate the balance between swagger and vulnerability. There is a genuine human quality to the performance which suits the lyrical subject matter perfectly.
For some background, Haydr‘s artistic journey has taken him around the world, including a performance at Nashville’s legendary Bluebird Café, as well as performing an original song in support of Eric Clapton’s Crossroads charity and appearances across the London and European live music circuit.
