The opus expands with intricacy and philosophical prose with poetic prowess to take us on a thought-provoking journey. In a sense the message of the song is highly zeitgeist, particularly in an age where communication has become simultaneously easier and more complicated.
Silent Eulogy taps into the uncomfortable reality of what happens when two people stop communicating. It’s about when a relationship begins to disappear quietly rather than ending with one defining moment. Super relatable in so many ways, and we are captivated by the emotional authenticity that permeates.
Knowing that the song was inspired by couples therapy adds another layer of resonance. It transforms what could have been a conventional relationship narrative into something considerably more introspective. We could imagine this featuring in a film like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and there are also shades of Lost in Translation in its sense of emotional isolation.
It would also be great for a sync placement in a TV show like Love Is Blind, or something a little more spiritual like Nine Perfect Strangers. The guitar work is sublime, particularly as the arrangement begins to gather momentum towards its cinematic climax.

The fact that this song began life as a demo back in 2010 makes its eventual resurrection all the more fascinating. More than a decade later, Jacob Seal has transformed that early idea into something that feels like an artistic rebirth. Created largely in a basement studio in Italy, with remote collaborators contributing from Brazil and elsewhere, the track carries an impressive sense of scale despite its intimate origins.
