We last featured Aurealis for exploring self-doubt and emotional resilience on his cinematic and thought-provoking single, Cursed, so when we found out that he was back with How I Feel, we couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in his universe and share our every thought!
How I Feel opens with a vibrant and high-octane synth pop crescendo with 80s adjacency and shimmering dimensionality before we experience the lyrics, “I get this feeling baby that maybe I could love you for a long long time, when we are together, it doesn’t matter what the weather is, the sun still shines…”
We love the vocal synth details and the cosmic ebbs and flows of the track with dynamic nuances and ethereal hooks. There is an undeniable cinematic allure, perfect for a movie like Drive, or a TV show like The Shards. In essence, How I Feel is about the exhilarating and vulnerable moment when you realise that a new relationship could actually be the one.

Aurealis effectively balances romantic certainty with notions of hesitation, whilst the optimism of “the sun still shines” sits alongside the fear of dreaming too much, hoping the connection is right, and worrying about blowing your chances! We really connect with Aurealis‘ ability to turn relatively simple emotions into expansive cinematic songs with a super authentic message, and this time the track has a much brighter appeal.
The accompanying music video is another great addition to the artist’s robust and multimedia body of work, and his precision both socially and visually is not lost on us. We particularly love how the artwork of the song is a nod to driving, as one of the most perfect places for experiencing Aurealis music is in the car.
Needless to say, we continue to be captivated by what Aurealis creates, and have added How I Feel to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream his ever-growing discography and eagerly anticipate what this compelling artist creates next.
