We previously featured PRAYZVIBES for exploring creativity, freedom, and transcendent connection with the conscious single, High Week, so when we heard that the project was back with Mountain Day, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Mountain Day opens with an acoustic guitar soundscape, a high emotional quotient and textured percussion details, expanding with the lyrics, “It takes a few hours, out here alone on the mountain, but now the mind is refreshed, as I keep on hiking…”
We are enthralled by the cinematic visuals that come to life with the prose and the conscious connection with nature that manifests. The poetic prowess of the prose invites us to reflect and gives us perspective on how outdoor activities, up above, can show us that life’s problems are not always worth the turmoil.
The evolution of the track is peculiar, with the emergence of a cerebral, minor key piano and strings which create dimensionality. In essence, Mountain Day is about finding healing and perspective after heartbreak. We learn that it is inspired by a real journey into the Alps following a breakup.
PRAYZVIBES climbed to a mountain hut high above the city where his former partner lives and discovers that the emotional pain consuming him feels smaller when viewed from a greater distance. Speaking on the release, PRAYZVIBES confesses, “The mountains have always been a place where I find clarity and inspiration, and this atmosphere became a central part of the production.”
Nature becomes a place of refuge, reflection and renewal for the artist, a space where music and nature help transform grief into hope. We could imagine the song landing a sync placement in the second season of the hit TV show Nine Perfect Strangers, which is indeed set in the mountains.
For some background, Mountain Day was created independently by PRAYZVIBES in a personal studio environment in Bavaria, Germany. The artist wrote, recorded, produced, and mixed the entire song himself, using acoustic guitar, intimate vocals, upright bass, piano, subtle string textures, and natural percussion to preserve a warm, organic sound.
