Establishing the mood with a gated and panning synthscape featuring bell tone arpeggios, It’s MITCH opens NOSTALGIA with dimensionality and intricacy before sharing brooding, atmospheric vocals with the lyrics, “You see, pretty moon, I want to tell you everything about that boy, and how I dreamed of having him again with me…”
We immediately connect with the cinematic allure and poetic prowess that manifests. In essence, NOSTALGIA is about the pain of losing someone who was deeply loved and missing them every day. It’s MITCH invites us into a conversation with the moon because the celestial body is the only one who seems to listen and understand her feelings.
The artist remembers happy moments with the person she loved, but now those memories only make her feel sad. The lyrics show that even though the world around It’s MITCH keeps moving and the seasons change, she still feels empty. The questions in the chorus further show her confusion about why the relationship ended so suddenly and without a goodbye.
We appreciate the themes of heartbreak, loneliness, and finding it difficult to let go of someone who meant everything. There is no doubt that NOSTALGIA would be perfect for a sync placement in a TV show like Euphoria on HBO, or a movie like Blue Valentine or the recent box office hit, Obsession. It’s MITCH confesses, “NOSTALGIA is about the moments that stay with us long after love is over.”
Sonically, fans of Billie Eilish would absolutely love the dark pop vibes and the ethereal vocal production. The dynamics of the track are sublime, and the harmonies with an almost haunting techno-pop motif are absolutely mesmerizing, before a stripped-back and emotive finale.
The accompanying blue-tinted visualizer sees It’s MITCH seductively deliver a performance at a beach. This was actually ingeniously created by the artist in front of a screen. Speaking on the masterful visual, she sardonically comments, “The only beach I can afford to visit right now.”
We learn that It’s MITCH is in the process of building My Imaginary World – her debut concept album in which every track, visual and character forms part of one continuous narrative exploring the space between reality and imagination. Alongside her independent releases, Mitch has collaborated with international producers including LeGrand, Enrico D’Amico and Glenn Morrison, as well as Israeli producers DEGO and Yinon Yahel.
